Gunter Pest & Lawn
About
Our family (Gunter/Besheer) has been operating Gunter for 4 generations. We practice "green" initiatives in all aspects of our business, including "no liquid chemical" termite treatments, exterior only insect treatments, paperless customer maintenance and we are in the process of installing solar on our rooftops and switching to electric cars. Also, our employees tend to stick around for a long time with over 15 of our employees working for Gunter for over 10 years. That adds up to a lot of experience.
There are thousands of varieties of insects. We love the challenge of identifing and creating a blueprint for solving the problem. We get many pics emailed to us that we try to identify and let the client know what they are infested with.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
We find out what type of pest the client is having, provide a quote over the phone, they schedule an appointment for a pest professional to stop by and remedy the problem.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Most of our technicians are certified applicators where we pass a test, then do on-going training. We also has a staff entomologist.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.
We do many types of services like, general pest, termite, mosquito, lawn, bedbug, so they all have different pricing structures. For most situations, we can provide a solid quote over the phone. For some situations, we need to stop by and inspect first.
How did you get started in this business?
My grandfather (L.R. Gunter) started the business in 1950. When I was a child, I rode along with him on the weekends to help out. After I graduated from college, I joined him and my dad in the business. My daughter (Hayley), is part of our team now, and she is the 4th generation. We have grown slowly, but steadily over the years to serve over 100,000 clients, 30,000 of whom are regular on-going clients. We take a lot of pride in our work and our employees.
What types of customers have you worked with?
We work with very large (industrial) and very small (mom & pop restaurants) commercial accounts, as well as thousands of residential clients in Greater KC, Lawrence, Ks and St. Joseph MO.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
I feel like the most dedicated Pest companies are the ones who are members of their professional organizations. That would be the National Pest Management Assn, the Kansas Pest Control Assn, the Missouri Pest Control Assn and the Pest Control Assn of Greater Kansas City. We are not only members, but Gunter has held officer positions in all these Associations.
