What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Find out there name and what plumbing issues are needing to be addressed. Get there address and set an appointment up that works with there schedule. I make it my goal to show up on time and resolve the plumbing issue in a timely and proper manner.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Although I do have a college degree with some mechanical classes included most of my training has come from over 10 yrs of service plumbing. I have worked with several master plumbers from the area and have helped in training new apprentices just entering the plumbing field.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.
Although I have flat rate pricing for larger jobs everyday repairs are itemized with cost for parts, labor, and a small trip charge depending on your relative proximity to lansing our trip charge is between $25 and $40.
How did you get started in this business?
I began working with a master plumber in high school. After he retired I worked with a couple other local and reputable companies before getting my own business off the ground.
What types of customers have you worked with?
I have worked with Landlords, business owners, homeowners of all different size and style homes.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I had a customer who had a kitchen sink that was plugging up constantly and he had been calling someone else to have it snaked regularly. He couldn’t get his regular plumber out and called me. I saw the type of drain he had and along with a good garbage disposal I was able to show him a little trick to clear small drain blockages himself without taking any pipes apart. We ended up clearing that particular blockage without the cost of a snake and now he can handle most of those minor food blockages in the kitchen drain without calling a plumber regularly.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
Call an independent plumber, plumbing is not like shopping at Walmart. Hiring a larger company does not save money in this industry calling a plumber with low overhead will save you money and usually you will get more personalized service as independent plumbers are likely to value their customers more highly.
What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?
Don’t feel any pressure to troubleshoot your plumbing problem. That is going to have to be done by the plumbing pro whether you have zeroed in on the core issue or not. Just be ready to show us the symptoms in your home that triggered you to call a plumber in the first place. Do however take a mental or physical inventory of any other plumbing issues that may want some attention or have been put off maybe due to being minor or not used often.
