CRES Surveys is geared to surveying for the individual.

Do we survey large subdivisions?

Sure, but that is not our focus.

Our focus is to serve the general public. Home owners, home buyers, deck builders, fencing contractors and the like.

CRES is a family business.

John W. Veatch, our founder started his professional surveying career in Reston in 1965.

John has both his Class A and Class B Surveyor's license.

His sons and grandsons have followed in his foot steps and now handle the day to day business.

Jay Veatch (President) is licensed to practice land surveying in Virgina, North Carolina and Georgia.

Jay and the other Veatches have work on a countless number of projects both large and small from Military installations to swing set installations over the years.

CRES Surveys is a family business that has been passed down through generations.

CRES has worked with all types of customers. CRES has worked on government sites requiring security clearances as well as commercial land developers, national home builders to the individual home owner.

Describe a recent event you are fond of.

It is always gratifying to solve a surveying "problem" for client. Decades of experience give us the in-site and knowledge to see things that others may miss and come to the surveying rescue.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?

Not all surveying firms run the same. Choose a firm of the size that you'll have an experienced pro working directly on your project as opposed to a technician.

What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?

This depends on the knowledge of the customer. Professional customers have a reasonable understanding of what services a surveyor can provide for them though they probably will need a professional surveyor to assist with the details. Unexperienced customers may not even know what questions they should be asking and are probably better served by having the surveyor ask them the questions.
