Steve Myers handled 4 big projects for us, starting back in 2003, and all have been excellent. In 2003, he completely gutted and redid our kitchen for us. We were very pleased with the result then, and are still pleased with it today. Although we've had to replace several of the appliances over the intervening years, everything Steve did has held up very well and we still enjoy our beautiful and well-designed kitchen. After that, he gutted and redid our den (had been old dark wood paneling) including refacing the fireplace and adding built ins, and redid our basement rec room to make it "teen friendly," again including adding nice wood built ins (plus a kitchenette area). We are still enjoying both of those re-done rooms. Most recently, Steve built us a wonderful screen porch. This project involved re-configuring our laundry room (so you don't have to walk through it) and adding on a new porch that fits beautifully with the exterior of our house and landscaping. We have very much enjoyed eating meals and spending time on the porch for 3 seasons of the year. Steve has been easy to work with, excellent to consult with as we've planned our projects, and he has done high quality work.

Steve Myers worked with us on multiple home upgrades last year (2019). We started with finishing 1/2 our basement and adding a full bath but were so impressed with Steve and his team that we added upgrades to two other full bathrooms and taking out the wall in between the kitchen and dining room. There was also some water damage below a few windows that needed re-plastered and painted, both front and back porch painting, and switching out door knobs for ones that have a thump lock that were completed. Our brick 1928 home definitely received the full treatment from Steve and team. We were impressed with his attention to detail, fixing and taking responsibility for mistakes, high level of communication and fairness in price when unforeseen issues arose. I was dreading having people in our house all the time but Steve’s small team was quiet, polite, clean, and nice to the kids and us. It really couldn’t have been much better. We highly recommended Myers Custom Design & Build.

Very high quality work, willing to work with us on some changes when we came up with ideas while the project was ongoing. The new sunroom, made from a screened in porch, became the favorite room in our home!

We’ve worked with Steve Myers for more than 10 years. His team did a major addition/renovation on our house and we were very pleased with the quality of the work and his team. They did very high quality work, I can think of one or two instances when we were satisfied with something, but they redid the work because they weren’t satisfied with the result. Steve stands behind his work and his crews were a pleasure to work with. When our home was damaged by a major storm, we had no hesitation using his company again.

FAQs

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

Simply to meet at their site and discuss what the customers thoughts and ideas are. That way I can observe as to whether there may be things that affect cost or design that I think I can advise them about to best fit there needs and budget. My job is to help them to know all they need to make an educated decision for themselves.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

40 years of being involved in the business. As far back as 1980 I was painting homes and doing commercial flooring and ceramic tile work. By 1990 we were doing kitchens and bathroom remodeling and small additions. By 2000 we had gained popularity in many neighborhoods, being referred because of the quality of our work and honesty, with only the highest quality of people doing the work.

Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.

Each job is unique and needs to be considered individually based on the specifics of each home, the design, and materials wanted.

How did you get started in this business?

I always enjoyed the challenge of using my mind and being able to be active with my hands. After working for 2 udifferent contractors I was convinced that this was my calling and I have dedicated my entire adult life into building a respected business.

What types of customers have you worked with?

Honestly, I have worked with people doing everything from installing a storm door or painting a room, to building muti-thousand sq ft additions for all different types of customers. At this point of my life not every single job or customer may be the best match for my company but we still do most types of work. And what work we do, we do to the best of our ability.

Describe a recent event you are fond of.

We recently did our first screen porch with a built in stone wood burning exterior fireplace. I love adding new wrinkles to what we do as things are always evolving and changing in this industry. Especially with Kitchen and bathroom remodeling there is something new every year, so there's always the need to learn and grow.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?

Main thing is to select someone that you truly trust because you are hiring someone that you will need to work along side with in your home and with your money. It is critical to have that relationship

What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?

They should prioritize what isthe most important thing to them. Whether it is a specific kind of design, space, budget, or anything else, it's important to know this.
