    My wife and I undertook a remodel of our home several years ago. We started by purchasing new kitchen cabinets Tri Star Cabinets in New Lenox and they recommended Bayern Builders for the installation. At the time our home was 25 years old and there were a few things my wife wanted done to freshen up the house. Joe gave us estimates for each of the projects we requested which were the new kitchen installation, hardwood floors throughout the 1st floor, a totally remodeled master bath including a large modern shower and all new vanities and appliances, and a redone 2nd bathroom. We ordered all the appliances and other materials needed for the remodel and scheduled the deliveries. We scheduled a vacation to coincide with the start of the demolition. Joe and his team did a great job. They were there every day, they coordinated the delivery schedule, did the demolition and started the remodeling. In all it took about 7 weeks to complete everything. The things that impressed me the most was that Joe personally stayed in close contact through the whole process. There was a project manager on site every day, all day, but Joe stopped by every 2-3 days to make sure things were going well and that we were pleased. His team handled everything from moving our furniture into storage, demolition, removing all old materials, leaving the house each evening in clean shape, all aspects of the remodel, and moving the furniture back into place at the end. In the fall of 2019, we hired Joe again to install a hardwood floor on our 2nd floor. They did a flawless job. We wanted to install a pre finished hardwood floor so to eliminate the dust from sanding. We didn’t have to do a thing. They moved our furniture, ripped up our old carpeting, eliminated all the squeaks in our upstairs floor, then installed the new flooring. The whole job took about a week and a half from delivery of the flooring to completion of the job. Its now been 6 years since our initial remodeling. Over the years we have contacted Joe on a few occasions because request an adjustment on something or to repair something. Each time Joe had someone out to address the issue and it never cost us a penny out of pocket. Now that is what I call customer service!

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

Will come out to site for a free consultation and estimate. Next I would work on getting customer working budget numbers to see if they would like to move forward with project.  Once approved we would get them final contract and put them on schedule.


What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I carry licensed plumbers and electricains.  Personally, I have been involved in remodleing for over 25 years.  Have worked with all difierent tradesman and studied architecture in college. I would say my best gift is the ability to design.  Thinking outside of the box to create a beautiful space that the homeowner will love for a very long time.

We price out jobs based on the amount of time it will take us to perform the work. This will vary for each project is so different.


How did you get started in this business?

I was working for another company getting all the jobs, bidding, and remodeling that I decided I could do this on my own. So I started my company in 1996 and named it Bayern Builders, Bayern being the place where my parents came from in Germany. 


What types of customers have you worked with?

I have been blessed to work with so many different types of cleints. My customers are normally people who want a very good job at a fair price.  They are not looking for the least inexpensive and care about who is in their home.  Also, because i have been in business for so long I have a lot of referrals and repeat business.


Describe a recent event you are fond of.

We are always exploring new ways of remodeling areas.  A bathroom I completed 2 months ago, we installed a hidden shower drain.  Looked realy good and the cleint loved it.  Attention to every detail is very important to me.


What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?

1) Make sure to check their reviews

2) Are they a member of the BBB? If so, check their rating and reveiws

3) If the price sounds to good to be true, it normally is.  Get ready for extras and possibility bad workmanship

4) Get 3 estimates and make sure to compare apples for apples

5) Go with someone you think you can trust in your home with your family and your possessions
