Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
We try to make the process as easy for our clients as possible. We have 2 showrooms where clients can talk with a designer and learn about differnet types of countertops options as well as see the stones in person. Clients that come into our showrooms really enjoy the atmosphere and the chance to see large samples of stone.
For our clients that have busy schedules, we also offer in-home consultations. One of our talented designer can come your home and help guide you through the selection process.
How did you get started in this business?
I grew up working in the industry from the time I was 12 years old working in my Dad's shop. My brothers and I started Select Surfaces in 2009 and have tried to duplicate the family environment we grew up in.
What types of customers have you worked with?
We specialize in Quartz countertops for residential kitchens. Although we do some light commercial work, and do offer products other than kitchens, our area of expertise is residential kitchens.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
I woudl always recommend visiting their shop before hiring a fabricator. Notice if the shop is clean or dirty. See the technology being used first hand. Notice if the team members are happy and enjoy what they do. There's a large range in the quality of work being done in this industry, but you can get a pretty good idea of how a company will treat you and your home, by visiting their home.
What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?
Our designers are happy to guide you through each of these questions even if you haven't thought about them yet, but it is helpful if you consider a few things before deciding to purchase....
How do you use your kitchen? Do you cook alot? Do you entertain? Do you need a large seating area so people can gather around the island?
What type of design do you like? Contemporary or traditional? Light or dark? Exotic or sleak? It's helpful to clip pictures from a magazine or online of things you like.
