Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
A customer calls in with a need. We assign a technician to that client. The technician goes out and assess the issue. If replacement is required, we then measure the home. Give multiple options from multiple manufacturers and have the customer decide which options is best for him. We created workflow documents so that everyone from the office to the installers know what needs to be accomplished. We install the equipment and have our installation manager go out and reivew the installation and perform a walkthrough with the client. We register the equipment with the manufacturer and send an after install packet to the client. If the client has rebates we will bring the packet out with the commissioning documents and submit rebates with the corresponding entity.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
We have our technicians in training for which ever NATE specialty they are working on. We enlist our technicians in seminars for leadership and specialty training. We just had our technicians at Boiler seminar and our Sales and Install manager at leadership seminars. Our office staff have just been through HR training and will be going to a Payroll seminar this month. We are a learning facility and want to be on the cutting edge of all new Technology.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.
Our prices are based on the services that need to be performed and are quoted to the client at time of service.
How did you get started in this business?
I was working in the HVAC business and then decided to open my own company as I had a different business vision than where I was working.
What types of customers have you worked with?
All types of customers. Everyone one's situation and HVAC issue is different and we do our best to help every client that calls in.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
We installed a gas pipe at someones home for an outside fireplace. We worked with the building inspector to approve our plan. The inspector waited until we installed the pipe to reject it. We are going back to run the line to the meter so that it is a dedicated gas line. Through the whole process the customer just kept thanking us for being there and being reasonable. He said he couldn't have done this outside fire feature without us working so hard.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
I would ask them as many questions as you want. Do not be put off and don't be okay with glossed over information. Investigate the company you have coming out and don't fall for the "I got this" verbiage. Make sure they have options and multiple manufacturers so that you can pick the best option and price for you. Ask about financing and if they have different options in that area.
What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?
Look at what equipment has the best review and warranties and find a company that sells it with good online reviews. See what equipment people are still using after 15 or 20 years and find a company that someone has worked with before that sells that equipment. Not all HVAC companies sell all manufacturers. Pick a company that has been in business for a long time so that you can go back to them if an issue arises. Check to see what their go back policy is and what Warranties they provide.
