Gentle Grooming In Your Home
About
Personally, I believe dogs are happy and comfortable in their own homes; therefore, I prefer to groom them at home, where they feel safe and secure. I am a very gentle groomer and I have nothing to hide, so the pet parent is welcome to join in, assist, or simply supervise. Of course, they can also go about their busy schedules and not participate at all, the option is there.
The products I use are organic, very gentle and mild.
I love dogs! I know my work is helpful in promoting healthy coats and skin. I especially love the reaction of the pet parent once they get their pup back clean, happy, and looking adorable!

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Before the groom I prefer to come over and give my customer a chance to meet me, ask me any questions and get to know a little bit about me. I also take the opportunity to give the pet a few treats and rub their belly and get to know my scent, so that when I come over to groom them they wont be afraid of me anymore. That also gives me a chance to assess the needs of the dog, i.e. matting, dry skin, etc. I give them an itemized quote with amy suggestion for services.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I completed a Grooming and Hygiene course with West Coast Grooming Academy. We volunteered many hours grooming dogs at the Balwin Park Animal Shelter. Then, I completed additional training with Petco and worked with them 6 mos. I have been working for a private salon in Studio City since March.

How did you get started in this business?
I love dogs and I was curious to see if I'd enjoy doing this work, so I went to grooming academy and the rest is history!
What types of customers have you worked with?
All types because working at Petco allows groomers to meet people from all walks of life. From assistants dropping off their employers' dogs off, to children who brought the family pet for nail clipping. Every race, from all walks of life.
Describe a recent project you are fond of.
I was very fond of my voluntary work at the Baldwin Park Animal Shelter because we were giving them much needed grooms and hopefully their new haircuts improved their chances of being adopted.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
I would tell the customer that they want to make sure the groomer is gentle and calm, not rushing, not handling the pup roughly, and actually likes dogs and hopefully is motivated by the work they do and not the money.
What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?
I have worked with groomers that are not motivated by the work they do with dogs, but by money. They seem to forget that dogs have emotions and can sense your energy. I would recommend they ask them what motivates them and what aspect of their job do they enjoy most. Also, I have begun to use products that are natural and good for the dog, ask them if provide this kind of choice.
