About

I've been pet- and house-sitting privately for about 30 years, and professionally since 2013. I'm SPCA-certified in pet first aid/CPR, and have considerable experience administering a variety of medical treatments, including subcutaneous hydration and insulin injections.

I enjoy caring for all types of animals, and hold no prejudice against any breed or species. I have looked after a variety of mammals, birds, fish, reptiles, amphibians, and even spiders.

I welcome the opportunity to care for elderly pets, and pets with special needs, including puppies.

Frequently asked questions

I schedule a meeting with the client and their pet(s)  to go over all of the care details, prior to accepting any assignment.

I'm certified in Pet First Aid and CPR by the San Francisco SPCA.

I’ve also had considerable experience administering a variety of medical treatments, including subcutaneous hydration and insulin injections.

My fee for drop-in visits is $20 per half-hour care visit, with a $5 surcharge for an additional 30 minutes of play, petting, etc. if desired. The fee for longer visits is negotiable.

My standard fee for overnight sitting is $50/night, with a 10% discount for bookings longer than 7 nights.

I generally accept a couple of drop-in assignments concurrent with my house sitting gigs, so if an overnight booking requires me to remain at the home all day (special needs pets, frequent deliveries, etc.), there will be a $25 surcharge per day to help offset my lost revenue.

Since the early 1990's I have been the go-to house sitting and pet care person for my friends and extended family. In the Fall of 2013, I was looking for a part time job and a friend in the business suggested that I turn pro. I began taking bookings through an assortment of services, and have continued through the present day.

Over the years, I've cared for a variety of mammals, birds, fish, reptiles, amphibians, and even spiders.

I've also had a good deal of experience caring for older pets and those with special needs. Assisting them with mobility limitations and dealing with continence issues are not a problem, though in certain cases my fee may be higher (please see my pricing details).

Always seek a sitter with experience (pro or not) and multiple good reviews/references. Unfortunately, there are many well-meaning people who try their hand at pet care without realizing the real demands of the job, and the kinds of emergencies that can crop up.

What sort of contingency plans do you want in place if a veterinary emergency arises?

If your pet has any behavioral issues, even minor ones, do not hesitate to discuss them with the potential sitter, and go over how they should be handled.
