Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I make the initial phone call to discuss the project. I then make an appointment to visit the job for inspection to provide an accurate estimate.
However if I can get enough info over the phone I can often provide a quote over the phone.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I went to school for plumbing during my apprenticeship in the plumbers union. 5 years of schooling at 8 hours per week while working 40+ hours on the job.
My education in the plumbers union gives me an advantage over many plumbers because I studied every aspect of plumbing from Drains, waste and vent, water distribution and gas distribution. Including sizing plumbing systems for large homes and commercial buildings. Knowledge of the Uniform Plumbing Code is a must to obtain a Journeyman Plumber Card
Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.
I estimate each job based on time, difficulty and the amount of skill required. My rates do not break the pocket book. My customers are very pleased when I give an estimate after they obtain other estimates that are outrageous.
How did you get started in this business?
I've been plumbing over 20 years since I was 19 years old. After working in the industry building custom homes, service and repair and the union, the collapse of 2008 found many plumbers laid off. I started my business in 2009 in the worst economy. As many people looked for work I was blessed and stayed busy as a contractor. Honesty, integrity and great pricing are essential.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
Always get more than one estimate. Never panic when you have a plumbing emergency. Many plumbers take advantage of a customer that has a plumbing emergency. No matter how bad the situation, always get a 2nd opinion unless you know for sure that you are not being price gouged.
