Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Review client needs for the project. Perform initial field survey to help determine property and/or topographic data. Set permanent property markers and file survey map with the County Surveyor.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
California Professional Land Surveyor License issued by the Board of Engineers, Land Surveyors, and Geologists.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.
SpotOn has no overhead employees that larger companies do, so we have the ability to be very competitive with our proposals.
How did you get started in this business?
My first project was a twelve mile property line retracement for a project in San Bernardino. Since then I have worked in every county in Southern California and continue to do so.
What types of customers have you worked with?
We focus on private residential projects that include property determination and topographic mapping.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I recently had a boundary project in a desert city that led us to work about twice as much as was budgeted. This is an example of how SpotOn cares more about the quality and care of work than the price tag attached to it. We live to provide accurate Land Surveys that we can be proud of.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
I would ask any Land Surveyor that you speak with to provide their Professional License number. This will help you verify they have the legal capacity to offer Land Surveying services.
What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?
There are many instances where a client ends up paying more for a Land Survey because they are told that the Surveyor can "take care of it". Understanding that Land Surveyors primarily focus on property determination, topographic mapping, and occasional construction staking will help you narrow down the services you request, and save you money.
