Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I generally like to talk first and let a customer know what I can do for them.
I get an idea of what they're looking for and will send a free itemized estimate.
I always pass on any discount from my suppliers and there are not many if any that offer this.
Please give details of what is needed. Saying a "wood door" doesnt help me and I cant reply if i dont know what I need to price and it costs me when I reply.
I have no problems with customers texting me and picking my brain for answers and since COVID-19 this has been a great way to get customers ready for their new door/s.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I trained in England as a Master Carpenter years ago and only changed the business to doors upon arriving here in Southern california.
I noticed that there was a distinct lacking of door companies that were charging a resonable rate for a job that I know very well and it has paid off for over thirty years now.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.
I have basic installation charges for 99% of the doors that I Install but some are different and i am not only more qualified to Install doors than people like The Home Depot or Lowes but I am also less expensive and the job is done right the first time.
I have literally thousands of customers from my years in business and my license is clean have and never had a complaint against it.
How did you get started in this business?
As previously stated, I am a Master Carpenter trained in England and when I moved here almost 35 years ago I was well equiped to start a Door Company and being that there was a distinct lack of qualified Installers it came easy.
What types of customers have you worked with?
I generally work with Homeowners but have also worked for General Contractors, Developers and even Insurance Companies. I know doors!
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
There are thousands of satisfied customers that I have worked with through the years and every Install is important and I am just as fond of most of them. I do every Install as if it were on my own home and will not work for a customer that say's "I want the cheapest job" and this is because I will end up having to come back and do the work again If we go "cheap"
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
Checking a door installtion Company should always start with a license check from the CSLB (Contractors State Licensing Board) to ensure that you don't get one of the bad ones and theyre out there. Ensure that they hold a Door Installation license and not just a General Contractors license so that you don't just get a carpenter or handyman and end up calling someone like myself to fix things after the fact and we get a lot of those.
Please check out some of the satisfied customers that have left glowing reviews. I have copied and pasted a few of them here and I will also gladly give out references from a customer that has told me that I can do so.
What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?
Materials are the most important thing to consider these days because wood doors are no longer waranteed by the manufacturers because of the lack of oil based paint to seal and protect them so Fiberglass or Steel are the best options now. Ask me and I'll help you get the right door that will last years.
