Jordan G. says, "ARRK handyman Service was hired by my company to put a 150ft wood fence in the backyard of our rental property with two gates in order to create privacy from the railroad tracks directly behind the property. Russell and his crew showed up ready to work in the middle of a snow storm when they live an hour and a half away. They had to cut down gigantic tree in order to install the fence on very uneven ground. The final product turned out beautifully! He did a wonderful job in regards to the work. However, I had to subtract one star for poor communication and follow thru. I had asked Russell to complete the project within a 3 day time span and to also stay in contact with me every morning with updates. The project ended up taking a full 2 weeks to complete and I was only contact one time with an update. He also put the front gate in an awkward spot, not where I had planned for it to go. In the end, The quality of work was so stunning that some of these other issues fell to the wayside. We would most definitely work with Russell and Arrk Handyman Services again!" Read more

Eugene H. says, "Forewarning Im not the best at typing so please excuse any spelling or grammatical errors! Owner Justin was great!I have become quite the skeptic because customer service and quality just isn't like it was 20, 30, 40 year back. But I chose this contractor cause His initial email stood out and was very informative, professinal, and well spoken. And very fast response time. He cold sense my skepticism so he provided us with an abundance of credentials from electrical, property management and construction design license and certifications, several awards hes achieved, copy of insurance, simple but effective contract and references, receipts, the whole nine. Communication is huge to me and he was very attentive, knowledgeable, listens very well, and made sure to deliver exactly what i requested. My only complaint for giving- 4 stars- wasnt directed towards Justin. It was cause a guy working for him was on his phone a lot when Justin wasnt looking but I made justin aware of this and he dealt with the issue immediately and we had no more issues. Would definitely recommmend his services. Im glad to provide reference and any questions (937)583-3100 " Read more

Your Window Screen Repair questions, answered

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on HomeGuide.

How much does a window screen repair cost?

Window screen repairs cost from $10 to $120, depending on the condition of the screen. A minor hole or tear is an easy DIY repair using a screen repair tape or a patch kit cost $10 to $20 from most home improvement stores. The kits include the replacement mesh fabric, a rolling tool, a spline removal hook, and the replacement spline to secure the mesh to the frame.

Large holes or more severe damage are more difficult and expensive to repair and may require a screen replacement costing $100 to $350 per window instead. Large screens are more costly to repair, and so are screens located in difficult-to-reach areas like an upstairs window. If the window glass, frame, or windowsill are also damaged, additional costly repairs are likely.

Who does window screen repair near me?

A window repair company handyman, or local hardware store repairs or replaces window screens.

  • Window screen installers charge $15 to $50 per window to repair or replace damaged or worn window screens. While screen repair may seem like an easy DIY project, relying on an experienced technician will ensure a quick and safe repair, especially on high windows that require scaffolding.
  • Hiring a handyman costs $50 to $80 per hour, with a skilled handyman being able to replace multiple screens in an hour.
  • Local hardware stores often offer screen repair services, but their services may be slower and more costly than hiring a window screen installer or handyman to complete the job.

Will Home Depot, Lowes, or Ace Hardware repair my window screen?

Yes, most home improvement and hardware stores such as Home Depot, Lowes, and Ace Hardware offer screen repair services. Each store works with third-party service techs, who are often the lowest-bidding contractors. Instead, choose a window screen repair service from HomeGuide to ensure quality workmanship from a reputable and experienced contractor.

Can you fix a torn window screen?

You can fix a torn window screen in a few simple ways. First, screen repair tape is a quick and easy way to fix small tears in a window screen. To use the tape simply clean the area around the tear and apply the tape to cover the torn area.

Another option is to use a screen repair kit that includes everything you need to repair a window screen. Finally, if the tear is large, you can replace the entire screen by measuring the window screen and replacing the ripped screen with a new screen of the same size.

Should I repair or replace my window screen?

Window screen repairs are cheaper than replacements and can be nearly invisible if there is only a small hole or tear. However, If there is a large rip, a repair could look unsightly or may not work at all. For more severe damage, a window screen replacement may be necessary.

The age and condition of the window screen should also be considered when deciding between a window screen repair or replacement. Window screens last around 10 to 15 years, depending on the climate you live in and the screen material. If your window screen is more than 10 years old or the screen is brittle, sagging, or beginning to fade, it is likely time to replace the window screen.

What questions should I ask a window screen repair service?

When choosing a window screen repair service, be sure you find a local company that fits your budget and timeline with a reputation for standing behind their work. Here are some questions you can ask to make sure you select the right company for your repair:

  • How many years have you been repairing window screens?
  • Can my damaged screen be repaired, or does it need to be replaced?
  • How much will the screen repair cost?
  • How long will the repair take?
  • What warranty do you offer on your repair services?
  • Do you offer a free repair estimate?
  • Will you provide customer references with contact information?

How do I choose a window screen company?

If you've noticed your screens aren't looking their best or bugs are getting into your home, don't put off finding a window screen company. Follow these suggestions to find an experienced window repair service near you:

  • Visit HomeGuide to find licensed, bonded, and insured repair companies that service your local area.
  • Get a few repair estimates to compare.
  • Read online reviews from previous work on HomeGuide and Google.
  • Ask about a free estimate and get everything in writing including the contract and warranty details.
  • Don't pay upfront for the repair, instead follow a payment plan.
