Boxwood is an integrated design studio. This means we approach each Architecture, Branding, Graphics or Planning project through the lens of collaboration and creativity, leaving no stone unturned to achieve a client-specific response. No two clients, no two projects are alike. Each deserves a design solution that is precisely right for its unique, specific requirements.

Each Boxwood project begins with a “deep dive” series of conversations with the client to fully articulate their needs as well as their dreams. Through the dynamic interplay of this collaborative design process, the needs and desires of the client merge with our experience, skill and creativity. We work with the client to design a building, a brand, a graphic identity or a master plan that fully expresses the client’s unique “DNA” in the essence of the resulting product.

Just as each client and each project are unique, each member of the Boxwood team brings their own valuable perspective to the design process. Each person is educated, experienced, enthusiastic and skilled. At Boxwood we involve the whole team in the initial design charrette phase of our projects. This allows each project to benefit from the multi-faceted jewel that is the collective Boxwood approach to the design process – collaborative, creative and assiduous.

Architecture is the spark, the excitement, the belief that we can make our world a better place. It is the drive to bring beauty, balance and order into our surroundings. It combines art and science, spirits and minds, to expand our vision and enrich our lives.

Good architecture is more than just a building, it is a cognitive understanding and respect for our resources and our environment, it is the balance of nature and people.

Not all movement is dance, not all sound is music, and not all buildings are architecture. Well-designed built environments imply a search for higher values and shared meanings... areas of respite and inspiration that crystalize the spirit of a person or an idea in physical form, and enhances, enables and encourages life.

I love creating beautiful design that captures the essence of my client’s core values. A building or space is a snapshot in time that reveals a story, and the story will evolve over time to reflect the people who use it.

Architecture and design are the lens of human experience, the progression of life-time learning, diligence, quality, beauty, honesty and passion.

Architecture provides for the body through physical comfort. In turn, it serves the mind through the creation of beautiful spaces. Ultimately it serves to create shared meaning, elevates values, and fosters understanding of the interrelationships and interdependencies between individuals and our environment.

Good design is a source of delight.

Beauty is the yeast for the ferment of individual creativity. Occupants of beautiful spaces are often healthier, more creative and perform better. Beautiful graphics, images and packaging promote a positive response in the beholder. For a business, this creates repeat customers. For me, it’s gratifying to produce moments of happiness.

I appreciate design that shows respect for the humans (and animals) who occupy the spaces, and for the environment in which we all live. This includes all the things that contribute to livability: walkability, beauty, health & safety, sustainability, energy efficiency, creativity and artfulness.
