Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.
All of our prices can be found on our website. We believe in Simple Pricing & Exceptional Value, so we do not hide our fees like a lot of our competitors. We are not the cheapest home inspection you will find, but we are confident that we provide the absolute best value of anyone. Military Veteran, First Responder, and Educator discounts available.
How did you get started in this business?
After retiring from service in the U.S. Air Force, Shannon Gatewood founded Gatewood Superior Inspections to help residents across the San Antonio area gain peace of mind in their property. We are familiar with the emotional and financial weight that comes with buying a home -- that’s why we make sure to conduct our inspections with the greatest professionalism and attention to detail. With an extensive background in construction, every GSI inspector is a wealth of knowledge when it comes to recognizing potential problems or damage to your home. Along with our thorough reports, we will take the time to answer every question and keep you up-to-date on any findings. Once you’ve found the perfect house, we will make sure it’s ready to be home to a lifetime of memories.
What types of customers have you worked with?
First time buyers, Investors, and everything in between.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
A typical home inspection takes anywhere from 2-4 hours, but really... it takes as long as it takes. I only do one inspection per day because I do not want my Clients to feel like I am rushing off to my next inspection and they are just 'another client'. As I like to tell folks... "One a Day, the Right Way".
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
A home purchase can be a very emotional endeavor and the process after having an offer accepted can be hurried and dizzying. Your REALTOR will most likely provide a list of inspectors they know... this could be good or bad, you need to trust your gut on if your agent is looking out for your best interest. Many are, but there are some who are not. Take a moment to do your own research on local home inspectors and decide which one provides you with the best value. We are confident that GSI does just that. This is one of those purchases where, more often than not, you get what you pay for.
What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?
Texas has a Standard of Practice (SOP) that provides the minimum inspection requirements. The last thing you want is a "Minimum Inspection". Make sure your inspector goes above and beyond the Texas SOP by checking every accessible receptacle, window, door, and system in the house. Be aware that some systems, such as irrigation, pools/spas, etc. may have an additional fee.
