Frequently asked questions

1st... Phone conversation to Discuss need, issues, goals, and set up an appt. to meet.

2nd... Meet with you and your dog to assess information given over the phone with what I observe going on in the relationship. Figure out a plan then show you a couple tips to work on until the first day of training.

3rd... Training day, work with the dog one on one as you observe then switch so you get practice while I observe which allows you to ask questions and work on techniques.

4th... You will work on the techniques from training with your dog during the week until your next training appt.

5th... Go over what was taught and learned, assess you with your dog to ensure both of you are understanding what is being asked if each other. Open for questions and suggestions and tweaking of the training if needed.

6th... We will work on one skill at a time until you and your dog have mastered it then build on that one with a new skill.

As a dog owner, I wanted to have a better relationship with my dogs, especially when I started bringing home rescue dogs. I needed to have a sound understanding of how to deal with behavior issues that later revealed themselves so I contacted trainers myself for help. As I worked with my dogs, I found the research and improvement in my own dogs rewarding so took it to the next level; enrolled in school.

Puppy training, kennel/crate training,  socializing, fearful/shy, fearful/reactive, stubborn personality, fence aggression, barking/lunging on walks, leash pulling to name a few

I had a client who would seek my assistance for troubleshooting training plateaus. One occasion with his male puppy on "out", and another for his female pup on "stay". My client would explain in detail what he was doing and what the dogs weren't doing for him. When I'd arrive for training, I'd have the client show me what he was working on then step in to modify the technique or training. Within a couple of retrain trials the dogs would be on que in the task. He would just shake his head and tell me I had magic.

This is going to be a relationship building partnership. You should be comfortable with the person and techniques used in training you and your dog at all times. If you are not, seek a new trainer.

Self reflection; how much time am I ready to devote to building a better relationship with my dog? Training takes you learing and knowing how to continue the lessons and refreshing the desired behaviors at home for the life of your dog.

After that, be forth coming and descriptive about the dogs behavior, the setting, what you did to correct a behavior, the outcome, and what you want out of the sessions.
