The Groom Room
About
I provide one on one professional certified grooming for your dog or cat. All sizes ages and breeds welcome. I learned the basics of grooming years ago and when life changes happened in our family and I had to become the sole breadwinner I wanted to do something that I was passionate about, animals. My unconditional love of dogs and cats steered me to becoming a certified groomer. After careful research I found this to be most fulfilling and would provide a much needed service. I purchased a trailer to go mobile and then covid hit us so halfway thru the construction due to finances I had to put it off and luckily I have been able to groom from my home until I am able to complete the mobile grooming trailer. My no. 1 priority are the dogs care and wellbeing and providing them with a loving comfortable stress free environment that allows me to bond with each dog so that they do not have anxiety toward grooming.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Get background on the dog.. find out their grooming history, their temperament, breed, how often groomed. Schedule appt. and until I am mobile I go pickup and drop off as part of my service
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have 2 years working for groomer in Fredericksburg and I was certified thru Penn state as a groomer the later part of 2019. And then the past 6 months as full time groomer.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.
My prices where structured around industry standards for mobile grooming but then covid hit and I have just basically been providing big discounted services to help people who have been affected by this financially and to keep up working and keeping my bills paid. Have $65 min for full service breed up to 20lbs. And then it goes up from there depending on dog breed, cut, services, and temperament. Some dogs have extreme anxiety over grooming and may require extra time spent with them to aleveate their stress. During April may June and July I have been offering half price grooming with a $35 min.
How did you get started in this business?
When I was in my 20's, I'm 53 now, I had the priveledge of getting to learn grooming from a lady who owned her own shop. I feel in love then but the money wasn't very good unless you worked for yourself and I had to leave to pursue more money. It wasn't until my husband became disabiled and I was to be the sole earner of our household that I started doing research and found that this could not only support us but I could actually do something that I was passionate about.
What types of customers have you worked with?
All kinds. There are no boundaries when it comes to pet owners.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I had a referral and the dogs name was CHICO and he was obvious very loved by his owner and he liked his Chico to get summer cut but leave his beard long so I suggested dying it for 4th of July. When I went to pick Chico up he was the most hyper terrier I had ever met, peeing all over couldn't be still and I thought oh boy this little guy will take a while, lol. As soon as he was on my table he became a professional and to this day he is the best dog I have ever groomed. And his beard turned out awesome too.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
You must trust your groomer, because you are handing over a part of your family and you want to make sure that they are in good hands. Also remember that dogs move around a lot and not every groom is going to be perfect but know that with me I take my time and make sure they are not feeling stressed and if we have to take a break we do. I have noticed so many of the dogs I do here are completely freaked out when doing anything to their feet, not sure why other than they had to have had a negative experience. With groomers in big demand a lot of the shops are overbooked and they are trying to get them ion and off the table a quick as possible so I think sometimes rushing thru the process doesn't allow the dog to gain trust of their groomer and more importantly build that bond.
