What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
A standard meet and greet and a walkthrough of their home. Get an better sense of the home and home owner by walking and talking about the current project and past projects and outcomes.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
All I learned I learned on the job. I have owned three homes and have been on the customer end many times and understand that perspective. When I began in 2005 I was on various crews around Houston and saw I wanted and how I didn't want my service to run.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.
I have set prices for single jobs like garbage disposer replacement and fan replacement but other jobs require more inspection before giving a reasonable quote.
How did you get started in this business?
My background is in private investigation, sales and customer service but in 2005 I began Jaybird's as a project business to help me save money to travel to Norway to see my third son more often. I was a homeowner and had hired and met contractors on many occasions when I couldn't complete it myself. I found people in the business i trusted and through their mentorship and help networking I began small jobs in the neighborhood for friends and neighbors. My name got around quickly and I was able to hire an amazing crew and expand our service list.
