About
I love animals of all kinds! My first job was working on a horse farm where I fell in love with horses. I have always been a dog owner and I find loving pets so fulfilling! People say if you do what you love as a profession, you will never work a day in your life and I find that to be so true. I am vetted, insured and have been caring for pets my entire life. Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I prefer a phone call first, then scheduling a time for me to come and meet their little furry friends! I believe that the pets and pet owners as well as myself feel comfortable and connected before any decisions are made. After all, not every situation is the same. Serving people and their pets is my number one priority.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I worked in healthcare (with humans) for over 30 years. However, I have always had and cared for dogs and horses. I have sat for dogs, horses, cats and goats. Most importantly, I am passionate about tending to animals and I am now building a repertoire of clients and experiences. You can find out more about me on my website.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.
I do have a standard pricing system based on an initial questionnaire detailing how many pets will need care, medication needs, in home vs. daily visits, duties required, etc.
How did you get started in this business?
After leaving healthcare, one of the physicians whom I worked with asked me to house sit for her and take care of her beautiful doggie. It was at that moment when I started researching how I could do this professionally.
What types of customers have you worked with?
I have worked with physicians, friends and family members and home owners through a paid and trusted website.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
During a recent sit, I was playing the little doggie's favorite game of chase with a remote control car. I laughed so hard watching her chase that car everywhere I sent it, I absolutely laughed until I cried. I will never forget that.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
I would encourage the pet owner to take their time filling out the questionnaire knowing that the more communication provided, the better able a sitter is to care for their animals. Don't be afraid to ask questions. If you get a bad feeling about somebody, trust your instinct and decline that person's application. There are too many loving people available to settle because you need to be away from home.
What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?
It is very helpful to consider their budget vs. their needs, and to research before they travel. Seek the area's average rates for pet sitting. Make a list of what is important to them; for example:
Are they insured? Do they have good reviews? Do they provide in home care? Do they administer medications? How much do they charge? What additional services do they provide?
The more questions you ask, the more tailored and efficient you conversation wil be with a professional.
