I trained my own dogs for more than 35 years before deciding to become a professional, whereupon I enrolled in an intensive dog-training certification process. After a year of study, test-taking, an internship, volunteering, and a final exam, I graduated in 2007 from the Animal Behavior College with a 98% grade-point average. I maintain a regime of continuing education, reading books by leaders in the field of dog training and canine behavior.

I specialize in puppy manners, problem solving and behavior modification. After a one-hour session, during which I will observe your dog and consult with you about your goals and concerns, I will create a personalized treatment plan or training regime designed to meet your needs. You will receive your treatment plan/training regime via email, unless you specify otherwise, within 48 hours of the day of your session.

I believe that a dog may be induced to behave appropriately through the use of positive and negative reinforcement. Positive reinforcement is the use of a reward to increase desired behavior; for example, giving the dog a treat for obeying a command. Negative reinforcement, on the other hand, involves the removal of something the dog wants in order to induce the desired behavior. For instance, not giving the dog the attention he craves when he is acting inappropriately. If these techniques are applied correctly and consistently, a dog may be conditioned to behave in a desired way.

My goal is to show people how to correct their dog’s behavior so that the relationship between owner and dog is healthy and happy.
