About

TRS Designs creates attractive & functional Kitchens, Baths, & other projects such as Basment Bars, Home Offices, Libraries, and Laundry Rooms to name just a few. We design the space initially, then we work closely with the client to revise the designs based on their needs. We constantly strive to provide better use of space without losing focus on the overall aesthetic. And it doesn't stop there, as we can then supply the cabinetry & other materials, as well as project oversight & support, to ensure our clients achieve their remodeling goals and vision. Our creative design process is what our clients love & it allows us to say 'YES' when many other companies are saying 'It can't be done'. Small & Challenging Kitchens are one of our many specialties.

With a vast selection of cabinetry to meet any quality or budget level and over 10 years of design experience, TRS Designs is able to deliver the dream project you want at a cost you will be happy with. And you really deserve both, don't you? Call TRS Designs today to get started on your happiness for tomorrow!

There are some many aspects of what we do that we so thoroughly enjoy. One of our favorites is helping a client visualize the multiple potential designs for their home and working with them to select the absolutely perfect design for them. It’s such an rewarding moment each time a client says something like, "I never thought my kitchen could be like this!"

Another thing we enjoy is to see the project and the big smiles on a client’s face after it's all finished. It's fun and exciting to plan a space and look at 3D renderings, but it's a completely different experience to be standing in the finished space knowing what it was before, and knowing that this new space is going to be used, appreciated, and loved every day by the client. The satisfaction that we get from changing people’s homes and improving their lives is just immeasurable.

Frequently asked questions

We offer a free, in-home, initial consult to discuss the project and allow the client to get to know us. After that our design retainer is very reasonable and it applies forward toward their cabinetry purchase through TRS Designs. This upfront cost allows the client to not only see what possible in the space, but also fully understand the costs associated with a particular design they might be interested in. And there's the added benefit of knowing they get the design retainer back so they've already invested in that design.

Our design retainer is based on house value, so whether your home is big or small, your design retainer will be scaled specifically to your project.

We are constantly attending industry training and educational seminars on to stay on top of current design trends and evolving products and technology. Good design is different for each client depending on their empasis on function vs. aesthetic and there will never be a universal solution for all clients. Only by meeting the client, getting to know them and how they like to use their space, can we effectively offer them a design that will fit all of their needs. But that specific, unique client is what makes this all so interesting.

Our design retainer is an extremely simple formula... (House Value x .002) A $250,000 house will have a design retainer of $500.

This is based on NKBA (National Kitchen & Bath Association) recomended remodeling budget ranges of 10% - 25% of house value for a kitchen remodel. We charge 1% of a 20% budget. That same $250,000 house will have rough progect budgets of $25k - $62k, but while that range seems very large, we have to keep in mind that variety of products that exist... A simple example: We can get an entry level range for about $600, but we can also get a very high end unit for $6,000. Thats exactly what we get to explore in the design process; all of those variables... Do you want a high end range, maybe not, but if you do we can factor that in and plan accordingly.

I've always been a creative person. As a kid I loved art, drawing, and building detailed models. As a young adult, I loved cars and bikes and working on mechanical things. One of my very first jobs was with a custom home builder during the summers while in high school and I continued with him after I was out of school for a few years.
Later in life, I was working on a lot of homes for myself and for friends and had installed a few kitchens by that time. A contact of mine mentioned a Kitchen Design position opening up and suggested that I'd be really good at it. I guess he was right, because 14 years later I'm still doing it and loving helping client reimagine thier homes and spaces.

All kinds! We built our business model to be completely flexible to let TRS Designs take care of all types of clients.

We work with clients that want the entire project done 100% by us and we work with Do-It-Yourself'rs that are capable enough to remodel their own kitchen. There are in between clients that have their own trusted contractors and sometimes the client just knows someone that does a particular type of contracting, like an electrician or similar trade, where we do everything but that one specific component.

We work with clients with small homes, big homes, super gigantic homes. We work with property investors on small apartaments and house flips. We work with contractors to provide their clients with an awesome design experience.

Don’t wait, get started now!

I like to encourage clients to move forward with the design phase of their projects as soon as possible and here’s why: Many clients when first considering a kitchen remodel have a similar initial reaction, which is to wait or ‘put the project on hold’.  This is common and can be affected by many factors, but usually it’s due to the size, scale, and cost associated with these projects. Family, Health, Employment, Travel, and countless other life variables can create hurdles and challenges we each need to overcome. Simply having so many material options to choose from is quite daunting and when combined with the uncertainty of the ‘actual’ cost for your specific project, it’s a normal reaction to want to put on the brakes.
As a kitchen designer I completely understand the concerns with the financial investment required and realize how easy it is to get overwhelmed by the vast amount of products and options that exist. I also know that life does throw challenges at us and there’s never really a perfect time to start. It’s exactly for these reasons that I encourage clients to move forward with the ‘Design Phase’ so we have a chance to explore these options and narrow down some specific costs that are related to your specific project. The sooner we start exploring the designs and examining the vast array of products, the more time you will have to consider all of these options and choices. Why not capitalize on the time available now to get started and go at whatever pace you feel is comfortable. No rushing, no pressure. We can take all the time we need to consider, evaluate, examine, explore, learn, choose, re-consider if necessary, and be totally relaxed and comfortable while making one decision at a time. We have plenty time now, so let’s use it while we have it.
That’s why TRS Designs’ initial design retainer is exceptionally affordable, applies forward to your project, and there’s no expiration date to that either. It’s just first step at this point, but you have to take that first step to get a better understanding of what is possible and what it will all cost. The ‘Design Phase’ lets you see, via 3D renderings, what's really possible and what it could really look like. It also allows you to apply real world costs to that possibility without making a major investment. Once the design phase is complete, you'll have a real budget to work with, or a budget target to plan towards, and at that time you can put the project ‘on-hold’ if you need to for whatever of life’s many reasons.
You have to take the first step at some point, so why not now? Call TRS Designs today to get started.
