About
I'm a licensed master electrician and I've been doing this work for over a decade. There is no requirement for licensure to sign up as a pro on this site, so buyer beware; ensure your pro is qualified. I'm licensed in the city of Philadelphia, which has one of the strictest requirements for licensure in the state; we have to show years of work experience, comprehensive and ongoing schooling, and a notably higher than passing grade for the national electrical exam. Don't settle for less than that, electricity is too dangerous to trust to just anyone.
Please note, there is NO Pennsylvania state-wide electrical license. If anyone tells you otherwise, they are mosy likely licensed as a "home improvement" company with the state, which requires no qualifications.
Being a good electrician is about troubleshooting. Electricity is a finnicky creature and you need to think creatively through the many possible causes of a problem before you can solve it. I love the puzzles this work gives me. When the lights turn on at the end of the day, that is a satisfying moment.

Frequently asked questions
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
The best advice I have ever been given regarding hiring any kind of contractor is to use a contractor who will spend the time explaining the problem and their solution to you. The contractor that wants you to understand your house is likely to be more conscientuous about the quality of their work and to take pride in it.
