From 1.5lb dogs to 150lb dogs I can help you meet your goals working as a team to help one another. I have two areas I specialize in: owner trained service animals and therapy animals but also dogs with special needs of their own (blind, deaf, anxious, nervous, etc).

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Most people start with a free phone consult. Next if needed to do an evaluation and develop a plan to meet goals together.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I've got 10+ of working in the field, references from other professionals and clients, I have passed the Knowledge Assess testing for The Council of Professional Dog Trainers and I pride myself on staying up to day on the latest science of canine learning and development.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.
I do. It is listed on my website joyfulbehavior.com
How did you get started in this business?
I started with my horses. I apprenticed for a dog and horses trainer in FL one summer and I love working her dogs. The passion quickly became a profession and I've loved it everyday!
What types of customers have you worked with?
All types. Dog have are no restriction or reservations about people and neither do I. I also have no breed restrictions and truly enjoy the change that comes with dogs or owners having special needs to work around. Finding joy is easy when life is easy. But finding joy when life offers struggles is much more satisfying and rewarding.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I recently got a new dog of my own to train. He's a pointer prone to running off and trying to bite people. He's fantastic! And learning quickly. And pictured as my profile here.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
Look around choose something that makes your feel comfortable. Trust someone with your dogs mental health is a big deal. They are not verbal creatures so making good choices for them can be hard! I'm happy to help but if you find another trainer that fits our life better then go with them! This decision isn't about me. It's about your life with your dog.
What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?
How much am I working with my dog vs you working with my dog? It's always great when a professional can get a dog to respond. It is way more important for you to be able to get your dog to respond! Make sure the trainer wants to you envolved at some point if not all points.
What methods/equipment is used? There are a lot! Make sure you are comfortable with the answer. If you won't use the equipment they use you probably won't get the same results when they leave.
What are my options if what you recommend doesn't work for ____? fill in the blank with your name, your dogs name, or the issue your having. Good trainers have options!! And lots of ways to explain the same concept. If someone is frustrated by your questions and unable to rephrase in a way that's easier to understand... You may not see the lasting changes in behavior you thought you paid for.
