Quality of service and workmanship. Easy to get along with. The customer comes first and will meet any day or night and work any day or night at their convenience. In business since 1985 and work mostly through referrals. Can read performance surveys on Home Advisor. Get a lot of work from them as well and there are plenty of reviews. Rated at 5 which is the highest you can get. Will do anything the customer would like to do even if out of the ordinary. Work with top designers and contractors as well. Never missed a deadline. If i say it will get done, it gets done. Period. Can work last minute jobs or emergency jobs as well.

College degree in Communications. Put myself through college by laying floors and continue to enjoy it to this day. I get a lot of satisfaction from seeing houses transformed into beautiful spaces.

Yes but i measure each job and bid according to the difficulty of the job. For carpet there are 7 basic things to look for.
Cost to install carpet and pad
Cost to take up the old and prepare the floor
Cost for furniture moving
Cost for doing steps
Cost for delivery of materials
Cost for hauling away old materials
Cost for supplies
Every job is different though and you charge accordingly.
How did you get started in this business?
Put myself through college working as an apprenctice. 1978
What types of customers have you worked with?
All types. High income, low income, homes, rental, Mansions and historical homes usually through a decorator. Work through Pro Source. On their list of good qualified installers. Commercial work, repair work, boats, trailers, anything someone wants work done on. Have never turned down any job.
Describe a recent project you are fond of.
We just put in some Core-Tec LVT for a customer and the upper entry was ceramic. It turned out beautiful they even added curved steps that we also did and trimmed it out with schlueter strips and looks great. Also did the family room, hall, kitchen and laundry room too and they are thrilled. They said we were the best thing about the whole remodeling project. Years ago also did the Olin Mansion in Alton, Ill. 2 curved stair cases and large sitting room. All wool and had to put border on and serge everything in one continuous design. Took a month to do but was gorgeous. The university of Illinois owned but sold it to my customer. Over 30,000 sq. ft. of space. Also made octagon rugs with the same border and both had patterns so it all had to line up.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
There are not many good floor layers out there. Check Home Advisor or a quality contractor and of course friends or family that have used somebody they like. Get referrals on work they have done and talk to the homeowner. If they are conscientious and want to do a great job you have the right person!
What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?
How much do they want to spend. What type of material. Where will the material be stored or cut. Winter time provides more problems weather wise than other seasons. How will they pay for the job. Who will move the furniture. Paint first. How long will the job take. Is everything included and spelled out in the bid. Will they clean up and take all the trash at the end of the job. You need somebody that puts your interests first and you feel you can trust and that they will take care of things if there is a problem.
