Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
When a customer calls with a project whether it be trouble shooting or needing installation, our Custmer service representatives will speak with them and get the information about their project. Depending on the service we will either dispatch and estimator so they have the price prior to starting or if it is an emergency we will dispatch a technician right away to their home or business. Our scheduling department will make sure the customer is comfortable with the time and day, we offer night and weekends to make it easier for our customers.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Both owner and many of our technician have a Master Electrician license. All our technician are trained and certified as well as have continued education to make sure they are up to date with proper codes and regulation.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.
Electrical work is usually based on time and material, meaing the time it takes to do the project and the materials that are used. We do have some set pricing for many of our services such as, ceiling fan replacement, recessed lights, panel upgrades and more. Even with set pricing there are sometimes variables that change these prices, such as plaster, vaulted ceilings and other, but we will let our customers know ahead of time if this is the case.
How did you get started in this business?
Richard Bailey started as an electrician apprentice when he was 16 years old with his father, and has been doing it ever since and still to this day.
Johnathan Shipp started in high school as a way to make money for college, Johnathan realized it was a good career path and after college decided to go into business for himself.
After years of working as Bailey's Electric and Shipp Electric the two merged to create the great company we are today, Bailey & Shipp Electric.
What types of customers have you worked with?
Bailey and Shipp is a full service Residential, Commercial and Generator contractor. We have worked with all types of clients from Million Dollar homes to apartments and everything in between, everyone receiving the uptmost attention and quality.
We also work with architechs and interior designers that have asked us to help with customers homes.
Our commercial division has worked on high end restaurants, office buldings, doctors office and government buildings.
The Generator division is an authorized Generac and Kohler Generator dealer, we sell, install and service standby whole house generators. Our team does a great job at making this turn key for you, we handle all aspects of the project and make it as enjoyable as you would expect it to be.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
We have been doing electrical work for some time, there are alot of companies out there to choose from, some fly by nights that will do the job but if there is an issue hard to get back, or if they are not properly certified then the job can cause serious dangers.
When looking for a pro, have them come do an estimate, especially if it is a larger project, see how you and the contractor work together. If the contractor ask for all the payment up front that is definetly a warning sign, most contractors will ask for a deposit and final payment when the job is complete and to your satisfaction.
If a permint is required make sure the contractor is taking care of this, and inspector passes the project.
What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?
When calling us for an issue with your electric, let us know anything you can remember that happened so we can determine if the issue is something simple or possibly something serious that needs to be addresses right away.
If the project is an upgrade or installation let us know what your desired plan is and we will help facilitate the best execution for your plan.
