Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Each new client will receive an initial consultation before the first job is started. This visit is complimentary and allows the pet sitter to become acquainted with the client, their pet(s) and what tasks are required for the particular job. There are also forms to fill out that provide information about the pets, the client and the residence.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have over 10 years experience as a veterinary technician. I have been certified in pet CPR and emergency care.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.
Pricing is decided on a case by case basis.
How did you get started in this business?
I started working as a vet tech. During that time I started pet sitting, cats only. After about 6 years I had acquired a large clientele. In 2004, I decided to establish a business. I started pet sitting full time and teching part time. I did that for several years. Eventually hired sitters and worked as a vet tech when needed.
What types of customers have you worked with?
I worked with every type of pet owner.
Describe a recent project you are fond of.
It's hard to choose just one. I enjoy all of my charges. It would take a book to discuss all of them. Currently a veterinarian I used to work for called me and asked me if I would be willing to medicate a client's cat while she is in the hospital. The cat was very difficult and wouldn't let anyone but his owner touch him. I am medicating him now twice daily with no problem.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
Do your research. Treat it like an other hire. Make sure they have experience with your kind of animal and the type of care they need.
What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?
What are their priorities? What type of care does their pet need? Do they have any special needs?
