    Frequently asked questions

First, a general introduction about myself and how my company operates.  Gather necessary information about the project requesting, create a file and a job number for the client and schedule a face to face meeting to to do a free estimate.  J.M.H. Contracting LLC usually estimates projects lower than the competion and has almost flawless work, I am a perfectionist since my education and traing as a RN. I perform open heart surgey and there are no margins for error in this field.  With that said I am a perfectionist.

I started framing house and building house 20 years ago for Feaga Homes.  Mr. Feage being a master carpenter taught me everything I know.  Furhter, my father is a engineer and we have built and constructed many things togeter and he has also taught me the correct way is the only way, and your word is all you have.

Some what there is a standarn pricing system I use.  Depending on the job, mostly I price my jobs by the square foot, or linear foot.  I found that this method of pricing has proven to be extremly competitive.  Furthernore, cheaper is not necessary always the way to go.  You do get what you pay for.

I got started in the business (4) years ago after my daughter Yeardley was born.  My Fiance was extremly ill after post delivery and suffers from a IGA defficiency. With that said, she had a "C" Section and had to heal by secondary intention, which is from the inside out and could not be sutured shut.  I worked (5) days a week, 14 hour days for (2) years.  With coming home and taking care of a baby, cooking dinner, cleaning the house, bathing the baby, putting the baby to bed.... I think you got the picture. After she was cleared to work I went back to (3) days a week and found myself bored.  I started building decks and one thing lead to another because of my custome designs and perfection and professional attitude.  This helped my business take off rather quickly.

I work with a diversified group of customers from famiys, single men and women, widowed women, windowed men, the handicaped, commercial owners, rebuilding stores in malls.

First, First impression is last impression, someone who comes prepared with product samples, cost estimates, refference sheet along with a bio of the owner. This allows the client to  better know them without taking up alot of there time.  Time is very important in todays busy world, so being prepared with necessry items, a file, business card along with a business pen. Having  the correct tools and well prepared enables me to do a correct estimate for there specific job and ultimately speeding up the process, which then takes up less of the clients time.

First and formost is the project necessary and can they stay within there budget.  The worst thing to do is put yourself in a situation were it is hard to make ends meet. Second, what budget do they want to stay within. With so many manufactures and different material there is a large variation in cost of material the client can choose.  A start date and a completion date needed which is reasonable for both the home owner and the contractor.  And finally do your homework on the professional you choose to come over and give you a restimate.  The worst is a pushy salesman who tries pusing clients into a job and the pressure it creates, not to metion the uncomfortability of having this person tring to make you make a decision that night.
