Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
We will discuss what improvements you would like to see in your dog, problems you have, and general personality of the dog. Then, you can observe how I work/train my dog (this is optional), and you can try the same techniques on your dog. Some dogs take longer than others, but consistensy will get you to where you want to be.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a very well train dog (Nala, F, Belgian Malinois) and I can bring her to show her and how I trained her.
- Basic/Advanced Obedience
- Protection/Bite work (I will not be training this)
- Search and Rescue work (I recently started this with Nala and I will not be training this)
Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.
$50 per hour on week days
$60 per hour on weekends
How did you get started in this business?
I have seen too many of my friends bringing their dogs to dog training facilities and credited/certified dog trainers but what I have noticed is that their dogs are way less trained than my dog, and they lean towards too positive (cookie trainers who would only use treats and bribe dogs to obey the commands) or too negative (yelling and electric collar with high intensity) and I thought I could do a better job training the dogs without ruining the relationship between the owner and the dog
What types of customers have you worked with?
A few clients that I have met at dog parks or while hiking. And few of my friends dogs
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
Hiking
Exploring new dog food, treats, and suppliments
Teaching Nala new tricks
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
please go observe what they do and how they do with other clients first. people often thing the trainer should be training your dog. but that is not true. the trainer should be teaching YOU how to handle your dog and teach you techniques that you are not aware of and guide you to be more consistent.
What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?
their trainging style, their experience, and most importantly how well trained their dog is.
