What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
When working with a new customer we typically ask questions to get a picture of what the project should look like when it is completed. What is the vision? When beginning any home improvements or commercial build, there is an idea of what the finished product should look like and Thirsty Root strives to understand that picture. Through discussions and the estimate process we work together to achieve your goals.

How did you get started in this business?
Several years ago I worked in corporate America. One weekend a friend asked me to help him with a sod job. Working with nature sparked a natural passion in me and I’ve been playing in the dirt every since.
What types of customers have you worked with?
Thirsty Root has worked with customers who are residential to large commercial buildings. We have installed over 100,000sq yd of sod, including Bermuda, Bahia, Zoysia and St. Augustine just this year.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
When a new home development noticed their beautiful grass outside the development was dying they knew they had to do something fast. The area was the first impression to potential buyers. 2500sq' of fully rooted sod had to be removed and replanted. It was removed in 1 day and replaced the next morning. The general contractor was pleased... and relieved.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
I would advise customers who are looking for new sod to always make sure the company they hire does a thorough irrigation inspection to ensure the newly installed sod will be watered properly in the first few weeks. Never allow your lawn service to fertilize within the first 3 months. Nitrogen in fertilizer is toxic to the grass until it has rooted in the soil and can displace it.
What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?
Be sure to have an good idea of what you want done before contacting a contractor. This ensure your estimate is accurate and the process goes smoothly.
