Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
After initial contact to setup an appointment we would then have to explore the project or repair issue, to come to a conclusion on how to provide options to the customer for the project or repairs.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
i studied electronics in high school, my father was a electrician for 53 years. I also studied electrical engineering for 2 yrs in college, then went on to a industrial electrical position for 5-1/2 years, receiving my industrial and local electrical contractors license in 1978.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.
There is no standard pricing system which provides fair costs for each task or job, however we do offer flat rate prices for all jobs we estimate. The exception to this is for commercial projects we offer a cost-plus option.
How did you get started in this business?
I grew up in a motel and learned to do everything with my father. Rewiring part of the motel was a big part of deciding what I wanted to do. I went into a electrical position in a factory and that is where I decided to stay with my trade.
What types of customers have you worked with?
Residential, commercial, and industrial, power generation, also agricultural.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
Make sure that they’re licensed and insured and the license is really their license. There are a lot of guys working as electricians out there that do not actually have their own license, and are working under somebody else’s, which means they are not a true master electrician. What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?
If the customer is supplying fixtures, make sure they have them on hand.
If the customer supplies some material, it may cost more if there is a warranty issue with the material. The contractor normally doesn’t warrant customer supplied materials. So it may make sense to have the contractor supply all materials associated with the job, excluding light fixtures, fans, appliances etc...
