Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
For personal services including: hypnotherapy, life coaching, aromatherapy, auriculotherapy, sound healing and more, book an appointment ahead of time & fill out appropriate paperwork to facilitate the healing process and get the most out of your session.
For cleaning: I offer free estimates and competitive prices on a quality job well done.
For pet services: Meet and greet first, then very streamlined choice of drop off, pick up, or I can transport pet for you. Grooming and boarding services offered at either my home or in client's home, whichever they prefer. I also offer pet taxi services for veterinary appointments, behavior training, doggie daycare, etc.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
10 years as a vet tech, almost 1000 hours wildlife rescue, 75 hours at the Suncoast Seabird Sanctuary, 30+ years saving all sorts of animals. Experience with aggressive, geriatric (or pets needing medication), post-surgery care and exotic pets; as well as wildlife. My references and letters of recommendation speak for themselves.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.
Since I am not a professional groomer, I will go on the lower end of the pricing scale until I am confident in my skills/abilities. Also, the 25 mile radius was for grooming or cleaning services, not for multiple visits daily. There will be set pricing for things like baths, nail trims, ear cleaning/hair plucking, anal glands expressed, etc.
Basic house cleaning: $20/hour; inquire for pricing on bigger jobs. You can see Home Guide's pricing for an idea, I usually charge on the lower end & you will not be disappointed (I'm a bit of a perfectionist).
How did you get started in this business?
I saw how stressed some pets were in a kennel setting, and started offering my services then.
As far as cleaning, being a single mom with plenty of pet care experience, I am pretty much an expert in the cleaning area (especially stain removal, 😉).
What types of customers have you worked with?
All types:
Individual pet owners and rescues, I've done both residential and commercial cleaning, family and friends have asked me to groom their pets or work on behavior training.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
Getting kisses after the nail trim. I have yet to meet a pet that enjoys it, but gaining their trust feels good.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
Read reviews. I have seen some real horror stories when in the veterinary field. Also, pay attention to your pet's demeanor before and after the visit to the groomer; a little timid is to be expected, but if they're shaking in fear...find someone else.
What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?
Experience of groomer; potential risks (bites/aggressive pets & use of muzzles; skin issues: skin tags, raw spots, special shampoos; price and what all is included; special needs of pet (health-related: injury, severe anxiety, etc.)/special diet (treats); if dropping off, are they provided water and adequate waiting area? (you'd be surprised) & exposure to other animals; accidents & how they were handled medically & financially. Again, pay attention to your pet(s) level of comfort or anxiety around the person..after doing your research of course.
