What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Typically the process involves speaking with them over the phone, explaining in detail what a home inspection involves, including its limitations. Then we will talk about price and timing. Once we are at the house, I take the time to go over any findings and to explain the systems of the house to the new buyer, including shutoffs and maintenance items.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am certified through the Internation Association of Certified Home Inspectors and I have passed the National Home Inspectors exam and am licensed in the state of Virginia. I am also certified through the state of Virginia to perform inspections on new construction.

The price of each home inspection is based on the individual house. It is based on the type of house (SFH, Condo, TH), the age and the size of the home.
How did you get started in this business?
I have been around the real estate industy for many years and combined with an extensive background of handy man work and repairs I saw there was a need for honest, experianced, reasonable home inspectors in my area. I jumped in with both feet and started my own business and have been successful for years now.
What types of customers have you worked with?
I have worked all types of customers, people that are buying their first small home or condo to people buying 2 and 3 million dollar mansions. I have done everything from brand new construction to homes that 100 years old or more. I have also done stick built, log homes and modular homes.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
My advice would be to do your research and remember that you get what you pay for. The cheapest is rarely the best. Also listen to recommendations from your realtor, if you trust them, listen to their opinion and advice.
What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?
Remember that a home inspection is your chance to have an expert delve into a prospective home and inform you about issues, small and large, that you may encouter. Its also a chance to get educated about how your home is put together and what you can do to keep it great shape in the years to come.
