Its always been my passion to train dogs and educate people of the values of a well-trained pet. I have worked in training dogs for 5 years and have always used positive reinforcement to train them. Helping them build strong bonds with their human and exceed in their classes. It all starts with a simple sit and a lot of love and patience.

The reason I love training dogs is simply because I understand how important a dog is to their human. My favorite classes to teach are the basic puppy commands; sit, stay, down, and come as well as service dog commands such as alerting, pressure therapy, and body blocking. It always surprises me to see what a dog will do for their owner and that is what I love about my job

My dog was such a mess when he first arrived to classes with Melanie, but thanks to her she has helped me understand my dogs behavior and helped me how to correct it in a simple efficient way. I really like her style of training and I’ll definitely recommend her

Frequently asked questions

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

We will meet one-on-one either at a dog park or your home and discuss what you are looking to teach your pet or what behavioral problems you are looking to fix. The meeting will be around 1 hour and it is completely free. We will also talk about a schedule that works for both of us and will meet up at that time 1 or 2 times a week. Each session is 1 hour of training and 20-25 min of any questions or clarification you may have.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I have volunteered at The Longmont Human Society caring for foster dogs for 6 years. I was then hired to train dogs ready to be adopted to learn basic commands like sit, down, and stay so they could much easily find a forever home. I've also worked at a dog daycare for 2 years and have taken 2 years of service animal training classes.
