Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
We start with a quick phone call to understand our customers' goals. We then decide on a convenient date for our customer to visit the house and learn more about the project. We will spend between 30 minutes or more, depending on the size of the project. Once we have all the details, we will then provide a detailed written FREE estimate, outlining the scope of work, timeline, etc.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
We are licensed, bonded, and insured. All the work we perform is done with permits and strict inspections to make sure we are up to current codes. At the end of every project our clients get a signed card signed by a city inspector ensuring that the work was performed in accordance to the latest State codes.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.
In construction, every job is different. The general scope may be similar. However, you have to come to the job site and analyze the work carefully before giving an accurate estimate.
The estimate will be affected by the scope of the job, plumbing, type of walls if any walls need to be removed etc.
We offer fair pricing and FREE estimates so there is no risk to the customer.
How did you get started in this business?
I used to manage projects for other construction companies. I got to a point where I was running my own little business within the company. I would estimate the jobs, bring my own employees and basically take care of the project from A-Z. When I was confident enough, I felt it was time to start my own company.
What types of customers have you worked with?
We have worked with different types of customers. Some clients are very budget conscious and are looking to do the basics at a good price. Some customers are looking to spend more and have a more upscale renovation done. We have worked with all types and are able to adjust our budget to the customer's needs.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
We have recently finished a room addition, 749 SF in Glendale. This detached addition was built in the back of the house. The owners are planning to retire there and rent the front of the house as an income producing property.
When all the work was done, the owner looked at the finished structure and said: "This is our little palace." She was really satisfied and it was very fulfilling to hear.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
I think it is very important to hire a licensed contractor, someone who works according to State and city codes.
Make sure you do all work with permits. I cannot stress this enough. Some clients think that by doing the work without permits they save money and finish the work faster. This should NOT be your priority. Permits are not optional. They are mandatory and guarantee that the job is done according to State and city codes and that it is done right. A city inspector checks every stage of the job, they sign every inspection and sign a final inspection. As a homeowner, you are not familiar with all codes and regulations. You should leave it to a professional to have it done correctly.
Permits are not expensive and will not delay the work.
When we take on a job, we pull permits and handle the entire process.
It is also a great advantage when you sell your home. When you show inspections cards for the work you performed, it will elevate your home value and make the buyer feel safer.
Finally, a customer should feel comfortable with the contractor they are hiring. Price is important but it should not be the bottom line.
Customers and contactors should have a good working relationship.
What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?
Customers should ask anything that comes to mind really. No question is insignificant.
They need to know the timeline, how they pay, when, and ask for advice.
