Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
The typical process for working with a new customer is that the customer usually gives us a call and requires a certain job or jobs to be performed in their home. We then tell the customers if we are able to do the job or not and give them a ball park figure for the cost of the repairs if we're able to by the description of the work requested. If the customer agrees to the terms, we then schedule the customer for a day and time they desire.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
The owner of 007 Handyman is a mechanical engineer and has been in business for over 12 years with a lot of experince in the construction and home repair industry. The technicians working for the company are carefully selected, trained, and will perform any jobs to the highest of industry standards.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.
We have a minimum charge of $75, which covers the first hour of labor. Every additional hour after that is charged at $50/hr. This is usually charged for smaller, simple jobs. Customers can request us to work per hour, if they so desire, or we can give an estimate for the work. Estimates are usually given for bigger, more complex projects.
How did you get started in this business?
The owner of 007 Handyman started the company ater realizing that construction in the United States, especially in California was much simpler than in his former country of Germany, where he studied mechanical engineering. After remodeling his own home, and as stated above, realizing the simplicity, he decided to turn this into a new job, and subsequently started his handyman business. The first couple of years, it was just him by himself, but after getting more work than he can handle, he hired a helper and trained him for years. And as the company grew, he added more technicians to the company, training them all to be specialists in the home repair field.
What types of customers have you worked with?
We have worked with all types of customer. Home owners, tenants, landlords, facility managers, famous people, low income, wealthy people with multi million dollar homes, etc. We do both residential and commercial work.
What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?
It saves customers a lot of time and money to know what they want/need before calling a pro about their needs, especially if the work involves replacing certain things, like doors, windows, faucets, etc, because pros will charge money to come by, look at what exactly is needed, and to discuss the job in detail with the customer.
