Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
We first discover what the customer needs are, create an estimate and submit for customer approval. Once approved, the customer's job is then taken over by our project management team, who will schedule the service, prepare the techs and materials and perform the work to the customer's satisfaction.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Steve Carter Electric is a fully licensed electrical contractor, utilizing trained and qualified electricians and apprentices to perform all work to code.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.
We offer standard pricing for many services and can create an estimate for each customer's specific needs.
How did you get started in this business?
Steve Carter worked with his dad for years, as an apprentice and journeyman, then became an electrician himself over 25 years ago. From there, through hard work and excellent service, Steve Carter Electric has built a great reputation in the industry.
What types of customers have you worked with?
Residential, from small 'fix-its' to complete remodels and new builds. Commercial in all aspects.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
It's worth the investment to have electrical work done correctly. It's not something you 'hope' is correct, since electricity can be dangerous and damaging to expensive equipment and to your person. 'Saving a few bucks' with an unlicensed handy man can end up costing you far more when it goes wrong and you have to pay even more to undo and redo things correctly.
What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?
Is there a simple solution to the problem? Maybe a breaker has tripped in the panel, so I'd check that first. Maybe a GFI bathroom outlet has 'popped' and just needs to be reset. Perhaps it's just the appliance that's not working, so grab a lamp you know is working and plug it into the outlet in question to make sure it's actually the outlet that's bad.
All of these steps will save you time and $$!
