Mel's Best Friend
About
Hi! I'm Melissa.
I have been working with animals since 2012 and have been studying dog behavior and dog training since 2018. With dog training, I focus on science based, positive reinforcement methods that rely on understanding your dog and force free training.
When overnight pet sitting, I treat your pet and your home as if it were my own and take care to give them all of the love and attention they want while you're away.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
The first thing I do with any new customer is set up an initial 30 minute consultation. The consultation gives us a moment to talk about your training goals, set up a training plan, and for you to ask general questions!
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I was certified through a larger pet store back in 2018, trained for two years, and then when I moved on I began to further my education through Animal Behavior College.

How did you get started in this business?
I was working at a corporate pet store and was asked to become a dog trainer. After passing the certification I realized that I enjoyed working with pet parent and their dogs and wanted a career in it.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
Definitely find someone who you are comfortable working with. There are so many dog trainers out there and while we are all here to help and can all bring some valuable information to you- you will learn best if you and your trainer can communicate well.
