What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
We meet with the customer to discuss their project and from that we work up a rough budget to see if they want to move forward with putting together an accurate budget.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
37 years of buidling custom homes, remodels, additions, energy efficient retrofits, building with Structural Insulated Panels.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.
Every project is different. There isn't such a thing as standard pricing in the construction industry for the type of work we do.
How did you get started in this business?
Worked on a new custom home as a laborer out of high school, did a 4 year apprenticeship with the carpenters union and after that I was snake bit and knew building was what my life's work was going to be.
What types of customers have you worked with?
Fortunately, most all our customers are great people. We nuture our relationships with full disclosure bids and contracts and then keep our word on time frames.
On rare occasion we come across a difficult client but we can usually make them happy by the time we complete the project.
Our number one goal is to give our clients a pleasurable building experience.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
Take the time to get to know the contractor. Low price should not be the governing factor in who you choose to build with.
Whether it's a simple Kitchen Island installation or a large remodel or custom home, a homeowner will be putting out a large investment. You need to know that the contractor will give you the best value for that investment and be a pleasant company to work with, with your best interest at the forefront.
What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?
What they are looking for in a builder.
Many builders are great craftsmen but not so great with business. Other builders sub everything out and it's only about the business of making money.
It's best to find that builder that who has both the qulaities of craftsmanship and business acumen.
