Very efficient and clean and very satisfied

With over 40 years in the apartment renovation and management industry, I know a solid contractor when I see one. They have to be punctual, clean, experienced, flexible, well stocked, and bring in their quotes for work competitively. Frank at FJE does all that. Even though it was my first time using FJE, he checked all the boxes that make a good contractor.

FJE Plumbing replaced an aging angle stop valve and toilet for me today with the Toto CST744EL with soft close seat, a highly reviewed model. Toto toilets overall have been strong performers for me for years. I trust Toto over their chief competitor American Standard.

Toilet Flush Legislation

Its clear that using less water for toilets is important. That said, Im not a big fan of regulations that force Californians to use 1.28 Gallons Per Flush versus 1.6 GPF, especially in residential applications which may have longer or older sewer lines. Only years of use at your location will tell the story so we can hope that the advanced engineering of new designs works on site.

The idea of a soft close seat, which slowly lowers it, is great for apartments where suppressing noise is key. Hygienically however, its better to have the seat already down before flushing instead of having to wait. Lighter than air particulates from an open toilet can spread throughout the room.
