Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
We like to meet with prospective clients either at their home, our office, or a coffee shop to sit down and discuss their goals, and how we work to see if we all decide we would like to work together. Then we move forward from there.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Every Realtor is required to take 90 hours of training to get licensed, and then 90 hours to renew their license the first time after two years, and an additional 30 hours every two years thereafter. We have over 20 years of experience. Judy is also a ceritified Real Estate teacher.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.
There is no standard system is real estate sales. Working with a real estate agent in by contract, and negotiable always. It depends on what services you need, and what services the agent you choose is able to and willing to provide for the agreed upon fee.
How did you get started in this business?
Judy started over twenty years ago after having been in the talent business for 10 years. She had always worked with people, always owned her own business, and always loved homes. So, this was a perfect fit. Jim is newer to the industry and joined Judy about 2 years ago after a long career in wine distribution. Again he always worked with people, always worked on his own, and decided to try something different. (Although he is kind of following in his father's footsteps, because he sold real estate in Idaho!)
What types of customers have you worked with?
We work with home buyers and sellers. We have worked with everyone from first time home buyers, to downsizers. We have sold condos, land, and homes large and small.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
We were recently meeting a client for dinner at a local restaurant. We parked in front of another storefront restaurant where Judy saw some past clients had just sat down for dinner. They saw us and waived, so we quickly stepped in to say hi. Their little 4 year old son hopped down from his seat and ran over to give us both a big hug! We hadn't seen him in months. It felt wonderful to know that a little child was still happy to see us.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
No matter what price range you are in you are about to buy or sell one of the most expensive items you will have ever dealt with. It is imperative that you have someone working for you who truly understands what they are doing. This isn't just about data and the best deal. It's about understanding the ins and outs of contracts, and having experience. Real estate is full of unusual hiccups, and if your agent doesn't know how to deal with them, it can cost you a lot of money and heart ache.
What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?
What am I trying to achieve? What is the most important thing I want out of this transaction? What is my time frame?
