Describe a recent event you are fond of.
Every year I travel to the Washington State Capital building in Olympia to advocate for home ownership. As a State Director for Washington Realtors, we have been staving off the state government from increasing capital gains taxes and taking away the 1031 exchange program and increasing the state excise tax. So far we are winning and we must keep this up to continue to keep home ownership strong and save the retirement of many people who's homes/investments are their retirement.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
Hire someone who is going to listen to you and your needs and can show you a plan that will meet those needs. Look at your professionals track record, what is their list price to sales price ratio? How well do they negotiate for their buyers? What are their clients saying about them? Don't just hire someone based on price, hire on the results they acheive. A lot of people actually lose money stepping over nickels to pick up pennies.
What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?
What is my time commitment going to be?
How available do I need to be?
What documents do I need to have in order?
What are my risks moving forward?
