About
I am a graduate of AK9I, where I became qualified to train and handle dogs in narcotic, explosive, and bed bug detection. While I hold these qualifications and will perform on them, my passion is in obedience. I offer 1 on 1 private, positive reinforcement lessons. I would prefer not to work with aggressive dogs but depends on the level of aggressiveness. I started training dogs in Virginia Beach in 2020 and was awarded HomeGuides #1 Trainer award for that year. Life happened but I am back and looking to start all over in my journey to become the best and produce the best outcomes. Please don't hesitate to ask questions about other services or if you're just looking for advice, I'd be glad to help as well. I hope that together, we can get your dog where he or she needs to be!

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
My process is simple. I will usually reccomend meeting once a week for 4 to 6 weeks depending on how fast the dog catches on to the tasks provided. I don't ask for large up front payments and offer a pay by lesson option if you would prefer. Once we get your K9 pal where he/she needs to be I will ask that you kindly leave an honest review.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I served 8 years in the US Navy, 4 of which I worked closely with dogs as a handler and kennel support. I have since separated from the Navy with an Honerable Discharge and have conpleted training at AK9I where I have become certified as a civilian to handle and train dogs in everything from Basic obedience, to tracking, and detection, to include explosives, narcotics, and even bed bugs.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.
My standard pricing for 1 on 1 lessons start at $60+ per lesson depending on travel. I do not offer board and train at this time.
How did you get started in this business?
While serving overseas in the US Navy and performing security duties along side handlers and K9 units, I was informed about a school I could attend upon getting out of the military as my contract was ending soon. I contacted the school and began a 13 week full time course to learn to become a handler and trainer.
What types of customers have you worked with?
I have worked with many clients; however, the dogs are what make the difference in my line of work. I specialize with working breeds. I do not often work with smaller dogs but am not opposed or unable to do so and am always glad to take on any dog. I have worked with German Shepherds, Belgian Malinois, Dutch Shepherds, Canada Corso, Newfoundland, and many other breeds.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
Don't hire based on price alone. Do your research and call multiple services and always ask questions. Find the perfect place for you. Find a trainer or company that suits your wants, needs, and moral values.
What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?
Determine what you want or don't want. For instance, if you are opposed to choke chains, prong collars, or e-collars, let the trainer or company know and ask if it is possible to use other means of training.
