Powell Brower Interiors
About
Powell Brower Interiors is a boutique mother-daughter design firm based in Northern Virginia that we started in 2012. We serve the greater metropolitan DC/Virginia area. Nancy Powell has been in the art and interior design field for 40 years, while Bethany has unleashed her passion for interiors and joined the family business. Our goal is for you to fall in love with your home all over again. We'll help you find solutions that solve your design dilemnas. Your spaces will evoke a vibe that is calm, natural and collected. Our process is very 'hands on' while we work with you in creating a beautiful home that tells your story, not ours.
We are passionate about interior design, lighting, rugs, fabrics, antiques, classic pieces and all design styles. Nancy is an artist and loves to create a special piece for each design job. We call ourselves the 'idea factories' since together we double the obsession with interior design.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
We begin with an introductory consultation to discuss the scope of the project and to begin getting to know one another. In this meeting we discuss our fees, and together we decide on the path forward, the rooms to be designed, both inside and out. The creative design begins in our studio and visual plans are developed for presentation to the client. Upon approval of the design plans and budget, we begin procuring and creating. A final 'reveal' is installed by Nancy and Bethany. We love to take your breath away with the final result.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Nancy has a BA in Art Education from James Madison University. Bethany has a BS in Biology from George Mason University. Each partner regularly attends current design events to enhance her credentials.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.
We work hourly or by the project. This price structure generally custom designed in our initial consultation.
How did you get started in this business?
Nancy worked for a design firm from Atlanta along with creating her art at the Torpedo Factory in Alexandria, VA. From this platform came a passion for interiors and art. Bethany got on board after the purchase of her first, and then second home, where we did most of the interior work with our own 'sweat equity' involving her in all the processes from the ground up. She was hooked, and together we are the designing women behind Powell Brower Interiors.
What types of customers have you worked with?
We work with homeowners primarily, but have created several office suites for those clients who wanted our design stamp on their work, as well as home, environments.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
We are currently remodeling a condominium in Arlington, VA. Every finish is being updated and we are putting our own design 'stamp' on this in-depth project.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
Give yourself the gift of an interior designer. You will save money (not to mention time) since you won't be making buying mistakes, leaving you with a house full of items that don't gel together. We can create a vision along with you that will stretch your design acumen.
What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?
Know your budget and peruse PINTEREST.com or decorating magazines to develop your tastes and your 'wish list' that you can share with us.
