Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Q: Do you provide a contract?
A: For local moves you will receive an Order For Service (OFS) at the start of your move. Your crew leader will go over it with you (pricing, expectations for the move and waivers) and answer any questions you may have. At any time either of you may call me. The OFS and waiver must be signed before any work starts. That is our work order and contract.
Q: Do I have to pay extra for travel time to and from my houses?
A: No. Travel time is figured in at the time of your in-home estimate.
Q: Is a mover fully responsible for any damage if it occurs?
A: Full Value Protection (FVP) is not sold by the mover. A-Team Movers offers it through our insurance agent, as do ALL professional movers. FVP is not insurance, it is "valuation", estimated by weight of household goods. The actual "responsibility" of the mover is federally regulated at $.60 per lb. replacement value at no additional charge to the shipper. However, A-Team holds itself accountable to repair any damage it can reasonably take care of with its handymen, ie. hole in the wall, loose furniture leg, part that comes unglued, etc.
Q: Do I have to pay extra for heavy items such as a piano?
A: No. Our movers are experienced professionals who have all the equipment necessary to move most heavy furnishings. We take pride in caring for your valued possessions.
Q: How can I cut moving expenses?
A: You can do your own packing. You can purchase packing supplies from us or purchase/procure your own boxes, paper, and tape. Keep in mind that anything packed by owner (PBO) rather than our professional staff has a greater risk of damage. You can also rent a U-Haul Truck and have us load and unload it for you. That option has the benefit of allowing you to purchase insurance on your belongings from U-Haul. We can even pick it up for you.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Owner, Christina Forrest, has an extensive background first as an expert estimator then a professional business owner. Our movers are specially trained in packing, loading and moving. They are drug, alcohol and cursing-free. And believe in accountible service.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.
Every move is individual. We send estimator free of charge to your home to give you the best pricing available and offer special discounts: senior, student and military.
How did you get started in this business?
The business was started from the bottom up; therefore, we are familiar with all aspects of moving.
What types of customers have you worked with?
