How did you get started in this business?
I got started in dog training as a client first. I enjoyed working with my dog and my trainer so much he asked me to work for him. I gladly said yes. The rest is history! I have continued to progress, learn, and grow. I owe it all to my very own dog trainer that I began with to me being where I today.
What types of customers have you worked with?
Size, temperment, and breed of your dog doesn't matter to me. I will take on the easiest clients to the hardest clients. We work with dogs on Basic Obedience, Advanced Obedience, Therpay dogs, Service dogs, Agility, Barn Hunt (coming soon), GRC (coming soon), AKC CGC, Dog Aggresssion and/or Reactivity, Human Aggression and/or Reactivity, Behavior Modification, Off Leash Reliability, and Food or Toy Aggression and/or Reactivity.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
Guiding, helping, supporting, and being there for a client and her rottie. She had been though cancer and a divorce. Her rottie hated people, dogs, and she couldn't walk him. She as and her dog have blossomed so much it brings tears to my eyes.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
I have been in your shoes before and have completed the process of hiring a dog trainer. Make sure you meet with the trainer first, see how they train, and see how they are with your dog. See if they are passionate about what they do? Ask questions as there is not a dumb one. Research and Research prices/package comparability. What does one trainer give verse another. Remember you get what you pay for and the cheapest to begin with will cost you more in the long run.
What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?
Think about what you want for your dog? For example: your goals, how much time are you willing to put in with your dog, how much time do you have to actually give, are you ready to commit to helping your dog? Research and pick about 3 trainers to meet with and basically interview to see if they are what you want. Be ready and aware of the actual cost of the services you are needing. All training programs are not equal as well as types of training.
