About

I am an award winning nationally published interior designer. I'm best known for my colorfully eccelctic spaces. One of my greatest gifts is the ability to quickly and intuitively assess my clients aesthetic. You will see a wide variety of designs in my portfolio. This is because I understand each of my clients is unique, and deserves a home that reflects who they are.

I love transforming the way people live in their home to support the way they function on a daily basis. I have gained a reputation of really understanding the way my clients live and being able to cater my designs for them to support their lifestyle. Those designs sometimes include renovations which I can design from the construction drawings, and see the project to final installation. I also am known for creating many custom pieces for my clients, whether that be in the form of furniture pieces, custom metal hoods, window treatments, or anything necessary to make the project unique, and reflect the homeowners personal style.

    Frequently asked questions

the first step is to determine which service best suites their needs.  I have three levels of service.

Full-Service Design: (Price is based on a flat rate and based on your projects scope of work)

This holistic experience is perfect for the client who understands the value a professional interior designer brings to a project, has a love of finer things, and is looking for a high level of service. During your project, we’ll take you through our four-part design process covering both the big picture vision and the nitty-gritty details.

    How it works

    Phase 1: Discovery and Programming

A deep dive into your goals, aesthetic, personality, and needs in order to figure out what is going to make the room successful in both beauty and function.

    Phase 2: Design Concept

We will present you with a big-picture concept to make sure we are on the same page in terms of design. You’ll have the opportunity to offer feedback.

    Phase 3: Design Development

We’ll present a complete, thorough plan for your design, and you’ll give your approval before moving forward.

    Phase 4: Detail Presentation

Based on your feedback, we’ll present you with the final design for approval. Then we’ll move into procurement (purchasing and receiving of products, working with contractors, etc.). Now you can sit back and relax while we execute the design and move towards installation day.

    Design Concierge ($5,900)

This service is perfect for the client who values strong interior design but may not have the budget or timeline to do full service. You’ll get Kim’s expert eyes on your space, and a fully formed design plan within 10 business days that you can then implement.

Step Five: Within 10 days of your in-home consultation, you will receive an electronic document from Kim that provides you with everything you need to execute the design. We call this the ‘paint by numbers’ approach to design because it has everything you need to make it happen!

    Mini consult: ($1,500)

    Owner and Principal Designer

As a D1 college athlete, Kim always knew she’d bring drive and determination to her work...she just didn’t know what type of work that might be. So she pulled out the course catalogue and started flipping. When she got to interior design, she knew she didn't need to look any further. The thought of working with art, texture, and space lit her up; she declared an interior design major and hasn’t looked back since. After a couple of years of working in the corporate world for companies like Ethan Allen, she desired to serve clients on a more individualized basis. With the $250 in her bank account and a handful of flyers, she started Kim Armstrong Design in 2003.

Today, she is recognized worldwide as a leading designer who has helped hundreds of clients create spaces they can’t wait to come home to at the end of the day. She lives to travel (her favorite escape is Cape Cod), spend time with her family, and knock client’s socks off with gorgeous designs.

We work with clients that value a design plan that reflects their personal aesthetic, and who value the art and science of the process of design.

We were recently published in The Cottage Journal.  We had a 12 Page spread, which also included the Cover of Cottage Journal.

Make sure you feel the designer is a good fit for your personality, scope of work.  Go with who you feel you can trust, and who you feel "gets you"!  Also, make sure clear expectations are set up front, so you understand their process.  I think if you like the person you are working with, you have trust in their ability, you like their process, and clear expectations are set up front.  That is the foundation for a winning team.

get clarity around your scope, and your vision on the feeling you want to have when the project is done.  if you have a budget in mind, that is helpful to help you in defining scope and level of quality.
