Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I like to have a meet and greet with the pet & pet parent so we can talk about care and expectations so everyone can decide if we are a good match.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I've taken multiple training classes and worked with dogs and cats for over 50 years.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.
Typically we charge $30/night for boarding and $20/day for dog care. For stays over 7 days or for a 2nd dog we offer a discount. Discounts depend on circumstances and dates. Holiday rates are higher and we generally don't offer discounts on Holidays.
How did you get started in this business?
I did not want to kennel my own dogs when we traveled. My husband suggested I use one of the in home pet services. I thought about it and still did not want to use one, but started pet sitting for Rover and Dog Vacay to see what it was all about. I loved it so much, I finally retired from my full time job and pet sit as my retirement job. I absolutley adore it.
What types of customers have you worked with?
I've worked with very relaxed customers who are used to having someone a pet sitter to the most terrified customers who are sobbing about leaving their dogs behind. Even my most fearful customer came back from vacation very satisfied and knew their pet was safe and well taken care of.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
Interview pet sitters in person. Ask for a meet and greet. Not all pet sitters are alike and different people have different needs as do their pets. Ask lots of questions. Make sure you pet will be safe and in a loving & playful enviroment.
