Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I will set up a good time to meet with you and assess your needs and wants. Then go from there into scheduling dates and times for service.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have over 10 years working with animals, 5 of that was working with exotic animals such as Lemurs, Sloths to Hamsters, Suger Gliders, Chinchillas basically any kind of exotic mammal. I also have experience in service dog training for mental and physical needs as well as basic training. I have more than enough experience to handle any situation.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.
I do not. I actually like to speak with each customer and assess their needs, distance, etc to assure I am giving a good rate for each individual's needs.
How did you get started in this business?
I have always loved working with animals. I started as a dog wash your way back in the day and then I started working at a exotic animal import and export working in the mammal department. I also did volunteer work for local shelters. I then got into service dog training and loved it and here I am.
What types of customers have you worked with?
Clients ranging from simple depression to PTSD to Spinal Bifida. Its a pretty wild range of clientele.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
The very first client client I had when I started training service dogs was a girl who had Spinal Bifida and wanted to train her Doberman that she had for 5 years with no training at all to be her service dog. This is my first case she was in a wheelchair and she needed this dog to be a working service dog at the time and we were starting from the basics. We accomplished our goal, she turned out to be the best service dog ever, took all the training very well and my client was thoroughly pleased. I still get calls from her thanking me for helping her. That is just really awesome feeling to know that I was able to help somebody like that. And not just her, her family, her dog and people that she has day-to-day contact with.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
Make sure they can provide you some kind of credentials or references. Always make sure they're a good fit with not only you but your animal as well. Your animal is the one who is going to be spending the most time with this person, not you. So it should be a good fit for both of you.
What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?
Decide whats they need or want. What they would like to have accomplished whether that be basic sitting walking feeding or more extensive training. Also they need to ask themselves if training is going to be involved how much effort they themselves will be able to put in. The dogs will get it but you have to get it too and you have to be willing to put forth everything you can every day to keep up what I have already put in your path. Also know that training never stops. It is very repetitive and it's not something you can do one day and slack off and next and expect for it to keep working. It takes daily effort.
