Hoodlum Hounds Dog Training
About
My name is Terrie Self, and I am the owner and operator of Hoodlum Hounds Dog Training. After moving to Texas from Chicago in 2012, little did I know that a whole new career path would open up for me. I have always loved animals (especially dogs!), although I was unsure as to how to pursue a career that incorporated my passion for animals. I started volunteering with the Humane Society in Dallas, and then started fostering dogs and working with a local rescue. After seeing countless dogs being abandoned, dumped, and returned due to behavior problems that could be easily fixed I knew I had to do something more to help! Starting with my own pack of dogs, who were a bunch of hoodlums themselves, I began training and working with them regularly. I really enjoyed bonding with them on a new level, and knew I had found a way to turn my passion into a career. As a trainer I am always striving to learn new and different techniques from dog trainers all over the world. I continue to broaden my knowledge so I can help dogs (and their owners) live happy, obedient lives and turn those Hoodlum Hounds into Happy Hounds!

Frequently asked questions
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Every year I participate in Dog Taining Workshops held by different trainers around the world to expand my knowledge and learn different dog training techniques.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.
A Private Lesson is where I come to your house and stay up to 1.5 hours. We can work on whatever you would like to work on during that time frame. The cost is $100 within 20 minutes of Lucas. There is a $25 trip fee for farther locations. Evening and Saturday appointments available.
Package of 3 Private Lessons available for a discounted price.
The Day Training option is 5 days of training without boarding. You drop off and pick up the same day. You pick the 5 things you would like worked on and every day at pick up there is a short demo. You can use the 5 days however you’d like, but I usually recommend not consecutively. Cost is $400
The standard Board & Train is a 10 day program of training while boarding in my home. Your dog will learn all basic obedience (Sit, Down, Stay, Place, Come, Leave It, and Loose leash walking) as well as basic manners (like not bolting out doors or jumping on people), and also socialization. There is a one hour demonstration at the end (demo done in your home). Cost is $825 with $425 due before training and $400 due at the end.
E-Collar can be added to any service. Ask me for details.
