About this pro

I train pet, therapy and service dogs. I also certify therapy dogs. My method of training is: I reward what I like and redirect what needs to be changed.

I love dogs and will train any dog.  One thing I enjoy most of all is training dogs for the diabled veterans and first responders. I help them find a dog or train their dog as a service/therapy dog. I love to change lives and help people by training their dogs.

She observed first and then showed me what to do and how to do it. She was very honest and told me what I was doing wrong . After only 1 day my non trusting dog is coming around . I can’t wait to see what else I can do !

She is awesome. She helped me a lot on training my 5 month old. She is the best trainer I’ve ever worked with. And still working with. Thank you so much Dorene!

We had the luck of the Irish for this St. Patrick’s Day! Our next-door neighbors were newsletter publisher Inge Stein and her friend Dorene. Dorene is a gifted dog trainer for many rescue animals and a trainer for Canines for Independence. After spending the weekend with her, all I have to say is, “Move over, Caesar Milan. There is a new dog whisperer in town!” As we took walks around the park, Doreen shared many ideas showed us the best way to hold the leash and handle difficult situations. She suggested adding a harmless, secret ingredient to our spray bottle to discourage unwanted behavior like lunging at small, terrified dogs. Most importantly, she introduced us to a Holt collar, which worked like a charm. So, thank you, Dorene for improving our training techniques and making us happier campers! I hope we will continue to see you at rallies!

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

My  process depends on the dog and the issues the customer needs help with.

The first time I meet with the customer we discuss their needs and the needs of the dog. The next time we meet we begin to train, the dog and the owner. We meet as many times as the owner needs to accomplish their goals.

Training can begin as early as 8 weeks but in a controlled enviornment because the shots are not completed. The old saying "You can't train an old dog" is false as I have trained dogs of all ages.
